Labor of Love

The Labor Day Table setting including bandanna napkins, color photocopies of the "Lucky Girl" game cards, bags of peanuts, and red depression glass canisters filled with flowers.

I made apple, peach, and cherry pies inspired by my friend Tony.  I used premade pie crusts but you can also use your favorite recipe.  I made my own apple filling but used canned cherry and peach.  Line regular sized muffin pans with strips of parchment paper and use a generous amount of pan release spray.  As per Tony's instructions, cut a circles of dough for the bottom pie crust.  Poke a few holes with a fork so that it doesn't bubble up and bake for 5 minutes at 425 degrees.

Fill the pie shells and top as desired.  For the crust topped pies I had to bake an additional 12 minutes.  For the crumble topping it took more like 15 minutes.  Ron made homemade vanilla icecream to accompany the pies.

Enjoying the meal.

There will not be a party next week so my next post will be September 13th.  By the way, this party officially marks the halfway point-26 parties down and 26 to go.
