I made some skeletons to paint for the Day of the Dead Party. I started with a 3/8 inch dowel trimmed into 2 inch segments with holes drilled at the top and bottom and threaded through with wire. I twisted the wire into a head and arms up high and a pelvis and legs down low. All are different lengths. Then I added some aluminum foil to beef up their pectoral muscles.
Next, the messy job of covering the body with newspaper dipped in a simple water and flour paste.
I added on their heads with Model Magic, securing them on the wire loop. Model Magic will air dry. I chose this over a Sculpey product so I wouldn't have to bother with baking it. Although one could do this quite easily by wrapping the body in aluminum foil. Model Magic is also considerably lighter than Sculpey and I didn't want our little Skeleys to be top heavy. You will have to wait to see how they turned out.
