And so it begins...

My house is gearing up for undertaking the daunting (and exhilarating) task of hosting and throwing 52 parties in 52 weeks? Why? I do not have a well crafted answer for that. I do know that I am excited for this madness to commence. I love throwing a party, and have for many years. I have a relatively serious full time job that has exactly nothing to do with decorating, party hosting, cooking, catering, or design. This is just what I like to do in my down time. My house (a setting for a majority of the shindigs)is not extraordinarily big or fancy. It is a very modest Danish Lutheran Church that was decommissioned in the 1960s and turned in to a residence by my grandparents. I live in a town of about 150 or 170 (signs proclaim different tallies depending on which front you approach from)that is surrounded by cornfields. Again: nothing that screams, "You should try to have a ton of parties in a relatively short amount of time!" But here we go.....

  1. Your house, once a church, is destined to be a gathering place. When I look at your floors, I love that the boards still tell the stories of weddings and celebrations via piano scratches, dings and dents. It is meant to be.
