The Martha

Man, I love The Martha. She is to entertaining what Emily Post is to etiquette. Several of the ideas I use in my parties are directly inspired by her multi-media conglomerate. I love the tone she uses that subtly conveys, "Of course you can do this, if not you are most certainly an idiot." Her ideas are always fresh and brilliant and her recipes are always slightly above my skill level. If she insists the recipe is "easy" I can usually do it with minor consultation with my husband (who has a culinary degree). Anything described as "elegant" or "fabulous" usually result in sweating, cursing and some approximated result that I explain off as, "Yes, it was supposed to have curds of chocolate." Or, "Yes, all of the ingredients in the wilted spinach salad were supposed to be wilted." Oh, The Martha.

  1. My Mom is very much a Martha (might even be the same age). That probably explains me to some degree. Yikes!

  3. The food is always top notch in originality, presentation and deliciousness at a Katy party.

  4. I think that some people don't realize the amount of wonderful insanity/planning that Katy puts into her food preparation and ideas. Not many people, myself included would care or even notice what color all the food is and plan a party around that. I love that about her. I refer to the Blue George Bush drink that we enjoy/ignore at every 4th of July party. Blue bubble gum soda and vodka. Nasty tasting, but a tradition!
