Turns out there is no cash prize for setting the table the right way. No one is going to refuse your hospitality if your knives and forks are on the wrong side. And you silverware does not need to be enclosed in or touching your napkin---the average dinner guest can figure out what to do with both even if they are not presented as a unit. I've been messing around with my table settings for Easter. I want each guest to have a live plant at their setting (pansy and star magnolia cutting pictured below)and when I set the entire table there will be live grass running down the middle.
