As the title suggests today was a day of trial and error. The first project, which may have been more trouble than it was worth, was constructing an ice try to hold the mango ice cream tomorrow. I ended up filling an aluminum tray with water and thought I would put the small cups I am using tomorrow to make convenient holes in the ice. Error number one. Of course the light plastic cups floated. So I filled them with black eyed peas and ran a strip of tape across the top to stabilize them. My second error was trying to balance the tray in one hand while opening the freezer door. I spilled five of the twelve cups of beans. I made a back up ice bowl a la The Martha if the ice contraption is a miserable failure.
The second big failure of the night was the drink, Bass-o-matic. Version number one: two shots of cherry pomegranate juice, a shot of vanilla vodka, over three muddled maricino cherries, with a Swedish fish, and a dash of half and half. Version number one curdled. A lot. Version number two (minus the half and half) was a success.
